Benefits of Personal Branding

Building a brand has become more important today for both entrepreneurs and freelancers.
The good news is, you can become a personal brand as long as you can position yourself as an expert online, especially on Social Media.
Why Should You Become a Personal Brand?

Your personal brand is something that makes you stand out from your competitors, helping you leave a great impression in your audience’s mind. You may have to struggle a lot to create a sustainable and profitable business without having a compelling personal brand.

Go to social media and check this out once. People usually prefer following people rather than following their companies.

Elon Musk is the first example that comes into anybody’s mind when talking about personal brands. Do you know he has more followers on his Twitter for himself than for his companies - SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity?

Same with Gary Vaynerchuck (company: VaynerMedia), Richard Branson (company: Virgin), and a lot many successful entrepreneurs around the world.

How to Become a Compelling Personal Brand?

1. Build Your Foundation: Authenticity is the key principle to lay a foundation for your personal brand. Personal branding is not about positioning yourself as something that you are not. It is about strategically showing your true self to your customers and audience.
So, your brand should be an authentic reflection of your skills, values, beliefs, vision, mission, interests and passions.
2. Choose Your Target Audience: Here is the biggest mistake many people do when trying to become a brand. They try to appeal to everyone. Remember, not everyone is your ideal audience.
So, you need to identify a specific group as your target audience and work on attracting them towards you. Having a customer avatar is the best way to work on this. It is nothing but identifying your ideal customer perfectly. In simple, understanding their demographics (age, gender, education, profession, income, and so on), desires/aspirations, pain points, and challenges.
3. Come Up with an Irresistible Offer: You need to create a product or service that someone is willing to pay for. And, you need to have an irresistible offer that helps your audience to solve a specific pain point or achieve a goal. Irresistible Offer = the value you are providing + something that your audience want.
4. Optimize Your Website/Blog: Visiting your website is one of the first steps most people take before becoming your client.

Make sure to set everything ready on your website/blog: a professional logo, your professional photograph(s), your value proposition (who you are and how you are going to be a help), social proof (testimonials and achievements), and a call-to-action (joining your email list, registering for a webinar, and so on).

Do not ignore the About Page and Product/Services page - storytelling works amazingly here.
5. Create a Content Strategy: Creating free content and distributing around online is one of the most effective ways to become a personal brand. It is not a coincidence that many successful personal brands publish significant amounts of free content online. It is part of their strategy.
Instead of attempting to convince your potential audience that you can help them, it is wise to show that you can actually help them by creating useful content: articles, videos, podcasts, free webinars, free courses, checklists, worksheets, guides, and so on.
6. Build Your Community: Aim on becoming a leader of a community in your chosen niche. Start a community, post often, aim to provide value, help them interact with each other, solve their problems, and give them a chance to interact with you directly whenever possible.
Building a brand has never been so simple as it is today. We should be very thankful to the internet and technology for providing us a clear and easy-to-follow path to become a personal brand.

So, do not wait anymore. Follow the strategies discussed above and become a successful personal brand.
